Teacher Assistant Job Details:

Teacher Assistants are an integral part to the education system. As a TA you are responsible for providing individual support and the over all well-being of the students. You will have a hand in both instructional and administrative tasks including classroom management, academic needs, instructional reinforcement, and various tasks including grading homework or tests.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with classroom management and supervision
  • Attend to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
  • Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
  • Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students
  • Work with smaller groups of students for remedial teaching or reinforcing the learning process
  • Assist the teacher with various tasks such as grading assignments and tests
  • Help students adjust, learn, and socialize

Teacher Assistant Requirements:

  • Teacher Assistant Certification (not always required)
  • Experience in a classroom setting as a Teacher’s Assistant, Teacher Aide, or Paraprofessional
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to adapt
  • Compassion and sensitivity towards children
